Raul Fernandez was conditioned by an arm pump problem on the MotoGP test day at Jerez last monday. However, he did not fail to focus on what he sees as a particularly significant shortcoming at the moment – the qualifying lap on the soft tyres.
The spaniard from CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP told the press: 'We worked just to try to see what I have to do to extract the maximum potential with the soft tyre – that's our job now, because I think the pace was more or less good, 1m37, 9s, 1m38.0s more or less. It’s not too bad, but when I’m on the soft tire it’s really hard to take a second off like everyone does'.
In a highly balanced peloton where overtaking is difficult, Fernandez stressed the importance of starting in a good position: 'Now it’s very important to understand why I can’t take off, because starting from the back you can’t do many things; if you want to win the race on the first lap you will do something stupid. It's something we have to work on; It is true that we have improved a lot, but we need to keep working'.
