Pirelli reveal aggressive tyre compounds for upcoming rounds – Motorsport Week

Tyre failures were a concern in Baku two years ago
Pirelli has confirmed the tyre compounds that it will use at the next three rounds.
The sport will undergo a break due to the cancelled Chinese Grand Prix, with Baku set to host round four of the campaign at the end of April.
For the event in Azerbaijan, Pirelli has revealed that it will bring the softest range to the track – the C3, C4 and C5 compounds, which were also used at the 2022 round.
In Miami, the C2, C3 and C4 compounds will be used – also the same allocation as 2022.
But for the sixth race of the year in Imola, Pirelli is experimenting with an ‘Alternative Tyre Allocation’ (ATA) programme.
Softer tyres compared to 2022 will be brought to the round, with the drivers utilising the C3, C4 and C5 compounds.
Pirelli explains that the step softer in allocation comes “due to the low severity of the circuit and the contained wear seen on the tyres last year”.
There will also be an alternative qualifying format used at Imola, with drivers only using the Hard tyre in Q1, the Medium in Q2 and the Soft in Q3.
As part of the ATA, it will see a reduction in the the total tyre allocation for each car from 13 sets to 11 for the weekend.
The ATA system will also be used at another event later this year.
Also making its debut in Imola will be a brand new Wet compound tyre, which doesn’t need tyre blankets for preparation before they hit the track.
