“DOES your little cherub come home at night stinking of burning tyres?” – that's the question police have asked parents as they probed a series of arsons at Totton.
The message on the local police team’s Facebook page followed reports of vandalism and anti-social behaviour on Totton Pump Track’s football and basketball court.
Tyres and wood were said to have been set alight.
Addressing parents and guardians, the Facebook post said: “Have a word. Totton and Eling council are experiencing issues with youths who enjoy trying to recreate the sun on their basketball court at Bartley Skate Park.
“So if your ‘butter wouldn’t melt... but his tyres do’ child comes home stinking of an old ash tray with a hint of Michelin, give us a call.”
Those with information should contact Hampshire officers on 101, quoting crime reference number 44230086258, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
