How far can you travel on a run flat tyre?

50 miles. That is how far you can travel on a run flat tyre if it suffers a puncture. It is also recommended that drivers do not go over 50mph for that maximum distance of 50 miles.

Run-flat tyres are designed to continue supporting the weight of a vehicle in the event of a sudden loss of air pressure. This gives the driver enough time to drive safely for a short period of time. However, it is important to note the limitations of how long and fast a vehicle can be operated when there is a punctured run flat tyre(s).

By keeping to the recommended speed and distances, drivers should be able to safely make it to a tyre fitting centre - or at least return home. Where they can arrange for a replacement tyre.

It is not recommended to continue driving on a run-flat tyre for longer than the recommended distance or at higher speeds, as this can cause additional damage to the tyre and compromise the safety of the vehicle and its occupants.
