Dominic Renshaw to drag tyre from John O'Groats to Lands End – Ledbury Reporter

A MAN who lives near Ludlow will once again be dragging a tyre as he aims to set a new world record.
Dominic Renshaw, who is originally from Oxford, but now lives in Wigmore, will be aiming to pull a tyre down and entire length of the UK from John O'Groats to Lands End.
The mammoth journey will involve walking two million steps and scaling 30,000 feet, the equivalent of the height to Mount Everest, which he ironically conquered in 2017
Mr Renshaw's expedition gets underway today (Saturday) and is expected to last about 42 days. He will be camping all the way in his own tent, while cooking his own food is mandatory.
He says he is driven to attempt the Long Tread due to his lifelong pursuit of outdoor activities and adventures, and will be raising money for Blackdog Outdoors, a charity that promotes outdoor exercise to improve mental health and wellbeing.
"Sport and recreation play a vital role in improving mental health," said Mr Renshaw.
"The effects of outdoor activities can reduce stress, improve mood, promote self-esteem and improve health and general wellbeing.
"I am now passionate about promoting the idea of “green exercise” to those that will benefit from it, providing opportunities for those people to take up outdoor activities, and supporting and encouraging them as they set out on their individual adventures."
Following this challenge, Mr Renshaw will then try and break another world record by becoming the quickest person to ski to the magnetic South Pole. That task is set to be undertaken next year.
