'Everyone brakes very late because you don't have to worry about … – Motorcycle Sports

One of the novelties of the current season is the debut of sprint races. Two rounds completed, riders and teams are still trying to adapt to the new format.
Aleix Espargaro, who was sixth in Portugal and then crashed in Argentina, believes that it is the very characteristics of the new format that have made the riders give their all from the start. According to corsedimoto.com, overtaking in Saturday's races is a problem for the rider:
- It's difficult to overtake in these races because everyone is pushing the front tire to the limit. Everyone brakes very late because you don't have to worry about [tyre] wear. That's why overtaking is difficult, and that makes qualifying even more important.
After two rounds and four races, Espargaro is 13th in the championship. In Sunday's races he was ninth in Portugal and 15th in Argentina, and in the Sprint race in Portugal he was sixth.
